Product Design & Strategy

In collaboration with BEON Performance’s high-performance mindset principles, I conceptualized an experience where users can track, plan, and practice the ACT model—a structured approach to achieving peak mental performance. This digital tool empowers users to gain insights, track important events, and manage ACT models in a way that enhances their ability to stay focused, build confidence, and sharpen their competitive edge. Whether users aim to train their minds for high performance, break bad habits, or optimize their mental resilience, this experience provides a seamless, user-centered platform that bridges performance psychology with intuitive digital design.

My role & team
My role on the team was to conceptualize the MVP for a digital experience that would allow users to seamlessly apply the ACT model in their everyday lives. This involved designing an intuitive app experience for individuals looking to train their mindset daily, enhance focus, and gain a competitive edge over their peers. My process included brainstorming, user journey mapping, and formulating a rough concept to assess whether BEON Performance was interested in expanding beyond in-person seminars and one-on-one coaching to include a scalable digital solution.
Core Pillars of the Experience
The three main pillars of the experience were ACT Models, Events, and Insights.
  • ACT Models served as a user-managed system of key terms, concepts, and ideas that collectively formed a structured framework for mental training. These models were designed to be tracked, refined, and applied to real-life scenarios.
  • Events represented significant moments or challenges in a user’s life, where ACT Models could be applied to develop resilience, optimize performance, and reinforce mental training.
  • Insights provided data-driven reflections on a user’s progress, helping them fine-tune their mindset and approach over time.
The ACT model
Whether used by a high-profile corporate leader or an elite military commander, the ACT Model functioned as a training compass—guiding individuals toward their maximum potential. However, the challenge was translating this abstract, yet powerful, mindset into a tangible digital experience. The solution? A guided ACT Model creation experience that seamlessly led users through the process of building, refining, and applying their personal mental frameworks. This approach ensured that the core philosophy of the ACT Model remained intact, while making it actionable and engaging in a digital format.

Tracking and Reflecting on Performance
The second pillar, Events, functioned as a hybrid calendar and performance tracker. Like any standard calendar, it allowed users to schedule and track important meetings, competitions, practices, and other key moments. However, what set it apart was its reflection component—users could evaluate their performance after each event, providing an honest self-assessment to uncover insights and trends over time.
I explored different ways to present this feature, from a traditional calendar view to a streamlined list format, ensuring usability and clarity. The key challenge was balancing familiarity with functionality—the interface needed to be intuitive while encouraging users to engage deeply with their progress and mindset development.

Insights
After using the application for a while, users would receive personalized insights based on their progress. The challenge was twofold: (a) quantifying results effectively and (b) presenting them in a way that encourages self-development. I explored various visualization techniques, including progress bars, radial charts, and heatmaps, to highlight key milestones and engagement patterns. To refine the approach, I tested these designs with a small user group, focusing on clarity and motivation. Feedback helped shape the final version, ensuring the insights were both intuitive and encouraging for continued growth.

Final thoughts
This project was a valuable experience in developing conceptual ideas and pitching a product from the ground up. Working within a small startup setting and navigating the ideation process was especially rewarding for me. At the time, BEON Performance was in its early stages, and we were simultaneously refining its business strategy. Ultimately, the team decided to focus on in-person seminars and one-on-one coaching as their core business model, so this project did not progress beyond the ideation phase.
